The 2019 celebrates varietals often found in traditional Bordeaux blends. American soldiers in World War 1 were nicknamed "doughboys." This wine is an homage to Joseph Stevenson (grandfather of Casque founder, Kevin Stevenson) who served during the war, and whose helmet (casque) is displayed in the Casque tasting room. Sergeant Stevenson served with the 33rd Infantry Division, known as the “Prairie Division,” whose helmet and shoulder insignia were the golden cross. In his honor, we will be partnering with Placer Veterans Stand Down, a local nonprofit that provides resources to low-income and homeless veterans and their families. The Doughboy has been a passion project of owner Kevin Stevenson for many years, and we are thrilled to share this inaugural vintage with you.
